OK so I was a wreck. That was one of the hardest things ever. The bitter sweet is it is all for good. We know he is going to be a great Missionary, we will miss him and I'm sure he will miss us at times. I went to the post office to get our mail and there was a letter from Matthew. Yeah!!! He is doing great and working hard. Today (Monday) he gets to start Gym. So he has the chance to take off his suite and put on his shorts and sneakers.
He leaves for Australia August 4th and will get to call home from the Airport. This just happens to be Jessica's Birthday. So we will have to explain to Gabby why he didn't call on her Birthday a few weeks later.

he's doing well. a little sad, because he misses everyone, but other than that he's enjoying the Spirit of the MTC.
in my letter.....
he told me about his trip, and asked me questions about mine.
then he said i should buy the shoes and purse i showed him in the first letter.
and he said he looked forward to my next letter.
and that he's glad i'm starting to like his music.
it also smells like him...i think he must've sprayed it with some cologne or something, because notebook paper has NEVER smelled that good. :)

The tie picture made me laugh--there's only so much you can do to add variety to your wardrobe as a Elder missionary--ties are it.
I also liked the memory-refreshing picture of Elder Ball's name tag with the "dork dot," as it's affectionately called by the 'old timers' at the MTC--referring to the newbies at the MTC. I'm sure Matt is already maintaining the tradition with each new batch of missionaries.
The MTC was a great experience for me--such a spiritual place.
Looks like the moment he's been waiting for arrives tomorrow. Even with how great of an experience the MTC is you still get tired of waiting to go to the field. At least he didn't have to wait too long (I knew it was getting long for me when the devotionals started repeating.)
In almost an instant, with a trail of emails revealing his transformation from a youth to spiritually mature young adult, he will be back. It will be fun to watch.
